The principle of ergonomics as a factor of book culture conservation in the electronic environment

The article substantiates the need to build e-book communication on the basis of the traditions of book culture. It is noted that one of the topical issues in modern bibliology is the question of methods and techniques for translating book culture into a computer environment. On the basis of the prerequisites that are present in works on documentol-ogy, it is concluded that the study and creation of the electronic book should be based on the principle of ergonomics allowing for effective interaction in the human-machine system. The article reveals the content of the principle of ergonomics in relation to the electronic book, determines the specificity of its implementation in the semantic, signatory, syntactical, pragmatic, temporal and material components. This specificity is determined by the features of the cyber-environment, which is characterised by other conditions of user interaction with the book. The principle of ergonomics makes it possible, in accordance with the reader's address and purpose, to choose the level of interactivity and hypertext of the electronic book, to establish the ratio of the sign systems used for the purpose of information transfer, to choose the material carrier, the parameters that ensure the readability of the text, etc. These facts allow the author to conclude that the principle of ergonomics ensures the production of a quality electronic book product in which the traditions of the culture of the book are preserved and the advantages of the modern information environment are used.
