Peculiarities of formation of artistic language structure creativity M. Vrubel at the example sketches for decorative panels and theatrical scenery

In the article there are General trends in the development of Russian theater and decorative art and key examples of sketches by Mikhail Vrubel and decorative panels and theatrical scenery, created in the late nineteenth century. As the key works, the curtain of the Russian private opera is considered, sketches for operas by N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov's "The Tale of Tsar Saltan" and "The Tsar's Bride", sketches for the decorative panels "Mikula Selyaninovich" and "Princess of Dream". The plastic structure of Vrubel's works is analyzed, which expresses both the actual reality and the poetic imagination of the artist, contained signs of romanticism and symbolism, and established itself as a modernist style on Russian soil. Style features of creativity Vrubel, inseparable from its ideological content, are considered on the example of a little studied graphic heritage. There is a decorative figure, consonant with the music of works, to which Vrubel created sketches of scenery and costumes, and the experience of monumental painting in sketches of decorative panels. Bright color, laconic, geometric shapes, simple and elegant ornamentation are consonant with the style of epic operas in the productions of the Russian private opera and decorative panels. In the article Maeconat S.I. Mamontov was first, who noticed the natural gift of Vrubel to the synthesis of arts - one of the main tasks of art at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Vrubel's many years of activity in the Russian private opera was conducted in parallel with his works on decorative panels. In the article there is a brief overview of literary works on the topic. From the huge list of researchers of the creative heritage of Vrubel, the author of the article identifies such names as: M. Flekel, who revealed the stylistic formation of Vrubel's graphics in his "academic" period of studies in P.P. Chistyakov, when in the system of educational drawing, developed for the constructive transfer of a three-dimensional form, Vrubel managed to consider the possibilities of decorative organization of the plane of the picture; P.C. Suzdalev, who created one of the most comprehensive studies of various aspects of Vrubel's work; V.A. Lenyashin, who called Vrubel the central figure of Russian symbolism in the visual arts, inextricably linked with the poetry of this time; A. Gusarova, who spoke about the decorative side of Vrubel's work. There are many monographs devoted to the life and pictorial heritage of the artist of Russian Symbolism and Art Nouveau. The more interesting is the appeal to the study of sketches, in which the primary ideas, the birth of artistic images, are imprinted. These ideas were reflected graphically on paper. According to Suzdalev: "In the history of Russian stage art and theatrical costume of the late XIX - early XX century, he belongs to one of the first, if not the most significant in terms of innovation".
