Подготовка экспедиции Эдварда Фентона в свете английских торгово-колониальных проектов в Ост-Индии в начале 1580-х гг.

Рассматривается сюжет морской экспансии Англии в XVI в. Экспедиция Эдварда Фентона стала первой попыткой англичан организовать постоянную факторию на Востоке. В историографии традиционно главным виновником провала экспедиции рассматривают капитана Фентона. Однако автор с опорой на документы доказывает, что затянутая подготовка экспедиции, влияние «португальского вопроса» и регулярные изменения в ее составе и целях привели к размыванию плана предприятия и в итоге привели к провалу всей экспедиции. Автор заявляет об отсутствии конфликта интересов.
