Web-tools in the medical education and healthcare

Different information and communication technologies are actively used in the health care. United information environment in medicine allows to provide the population with modern and high-quality medical attendance. The possibility of development and use of web tools in the healthcare and in the training of medical students is considered. The on-line systems of distance monitoring and control of physiological parameters, distance consulting of patients help the health care to raise its level. Here telephone connections, video-conferences, web-technologies are used. Web-service for dispensary patients assures the distance monitoring of mental health condition. This service for regular medical check-up allows patients to input data about different health characteristics and their complaints by themselves or with the help of their relatives. Patient’s distance consulting by a psychiatrist, a psychologist and a neurologist would be real through web-services after doctors receive relevant information. This way of consulting should not replace regular patient’s check-up, but can substantially reduce patient’s visits to the dispensary as well as time and finances. The medical students could be recruited for development of web-tools and its use in medical practices. This activity models a part of future professional tasks in health care. One of target innovative educational technology is project-based learning. Result of group project-based learning in the medical university is the example of an educational web-tool. Educational project could be described as student’s activity for decision of significant professional task where certain product is appeared. Project-based learning is a pedagogical technology that is largely aimed at employer’s inquiries satisfaction. Every student becomes the subject of pedagogical process in technology of project-based learning. The students determine tactical targets and necessary information based on the project design. The web-site of microbiology is developed by the team of medical students and may be used for classes and distance learning. The tutors and experts for the content are teachers of two chairs of Siberian State Medical University (microbiology and medical informatics) as well as the laboratory of humanitarian problems for informatics of National Research Tomsk State University. Actually there are testing, verification, and content improvement for the project. On the base of this result the educational web-portal of microbiology for classes and distance learning will be developed. The methodology and technologies of educational websites could be used by the developers of distance educational resources in other subject areas.
