ELECTRONIC DEAN’S OFFICE AS AN INSTRUMENT OF CONTROL AUTOMATION OF TEACHING AND LEARNING PROCESS IN THE UNIVERSITY

A large-scale IT infrastructure organized in modern universities to ensure the effectiveness of the educational process. New processes and objects arise in universities, which require the introduction of new instruments. In particular, the object is the development of e-learning systems. The integration of current IT infrastructures with new information systems becomes more complicated.New objects for the development and optimization of e-learning management system have arisen because of the mainstream use of Learning Management System (LMS) «Moodle» in Tomsk State University (TSU). The central problem became theisolation of system «E-University-Moodle» from a universitywide structure of automated information systems. LMS «Moodle» functions independently, leading to115А.В. Танасенкоdata duplication problems, delays and errors result from the hand control, also statistics collection for report preparation and carrying out of analytical study.Other universities have similar problems. Free dean’s office is a ready addition for«Moodle», which used to solve these problems. But using this plugin doesn’t solve the problem of integration LMS with universitywide services. Therefore, among higher education institutions there is common practice own special module development that integrates LMS with university information systems.The system «Electronic dean’s office» (EDO) has developed in TSU. It integrates a number of TSU information systems with LMS «Moodle».Approbation of EDO showed the possibility of the optimization of process management in units and time saving.The aim of this study is the introduction of EDO the effectiveness evaluation at thePhilosophic Faculty and description of the main problem areas.It has selected criteria for the introduction of ED the effectiveness evaluation:- correspondence functionality of system to requirements list and actual needs of users;- qualitative and quantitative indicators of optimization control of the educational process;- problems of introduction and proposals for their solution.There are problems, which have found during the process of approbation. For example, education programs were an incorrect format, or teachers retracted to give a mark in the e-certificate.Implementation analysis of EDO shows the necessity of expansion this system among other units. The system allows solving the most important universitywide objects. For example, it is the integration of automated information systems, the optimization of process management and promotion of the further e-learning development.
