Wireless LAN performanceanalysis
A mathematical model of access method carrier sense multiple access with collision avoidancefor active stations is proposed. The effect of carrier capture and unimodal dependence ofthe operating characteristics from the initial width of the contention window is detected. Measuresof preventing the effect of carrier capture, based on the modifications of the standard protocol areproposed. The first measure is based on request of contention window, which is fixed for all retransmission,the second - on zero random delay exception and the third - on first and secondcomposite. The simulation model of the wireless network is developed to investigate the effect ofcarrier capture with a large number of stations. The effectiveness of the proposed measures ofpreventing the effect of carrier capture is shown. It is established that zero random delay exceptionis the best of measures for nontrivial active stations number.
