The representation of event in language: the method of enumeration in byzantium church poetry
In the article one can find the analysis of a feature of ancient poetics - the method of enumeration that is used in further literature. This method is analyzed on the example of Byzantium Akathistos to the Theotokos (Virgin Mary), that is complicated not only because of the structure itself but also because of metaphors: each point of the text is a metaphor that needs interpretation using the Holy Scripture or Christian theology. Akathistos is based on the well-known event from the New Testament - Annunciation. But this event that is described very shortly in biblical text in Akathistos gets very complicated metaphors and enumeration. Such analysis of language representation is the way not only to describe the poetics of Byzantium hymnography, the masterpiece of which is Akathistos to the Theotokos but also to see some features of Byzantium mind that influenced on the development of the church poetry.
