Conceptual metaphor in natural-science term formation

This paper considers the role of metaphor in the processes of natural-science term formation. English and Russian terminological systems are analyzed of how conceptual metaphors model and generate formation of the terminological units in the natural-science system. The paper also presents initial findings of the frame analysis of physics of plasma terminology, examining the key concepts of the logical conceptual structure. The main conceptual metaphors generating physics of plasma terminology are described.
