Specifics of sound metaphor realisation in songs by V. S. Vysotsky (based on russian and french languages)

Interrelation of linguistics with other fields of knowledge and development of cognitive linguistics provide new issues for studying. Studying of conceptual metaphor from the point of its realisation at the sound level is of great importance since conceptual metaphor plays an important role in formation of the linguistic picture of the world. Another interesting point is a possibility to convey metaphoric images caused by sounds in translation. The article considers specific functions of conceptual metaphor at the sound level, its realisation as a key part of an individual picture the world of an author, and its rendering in translation. The article presents the results of phonetic analysis of Vysotsky's poems «Gypsy song» and its French translation «Rien ne va» that reveal the most frequently used sounds and sound complexes and their semantic meanings. The audio records were also used in analysis. The overview of domestic and overseas literature in sound symbolism allowed the author to form tables of French vowels and consonants demonstrating their sound symbolic meanings. Sound content of the poems was analysed to find tools characteristic of the author's individual style. The results of comparative analysis of the songs prove that generating mechanism of conceptual sound metaphor consists in semantic realisation of particular sound complexes intentionally used by the author to create special text dynamics and create certain symbolic images. Peculiarities of rendering the metaphor in translation are of great importance.
