Grammatical convergence in English and Portuguese for the development of a method for integrated language learning
The article is devoted to the study and analysis of grammatical convergence in the English and Portuguese languages. The article examines the use of articles, the formation of noun plurals and the use of nouns in the plural and singular. The use of tenses in English and Portuguese is analyzed, as is word order in sentences. An analysis of the use of articles in English and Portuguese found that there are many similarities in their use, including in terms of the definite and indefinite article, plus similarities in non-use of articles. An analysis of the use of nouns in English and Portuguese found that there is a common principle in forming noun plurals, and also common cases of using nouns in the plural and singular. An analysis of tenses in English and Portuguese found very significant grammatical convergence. As for adverbs, there is convergence in terms of suffixes and adverb formation using suffixes. Word order in sentences is also governed by a common principle in both English and Portuguese. A conclusion is made that the English and Portuguese languages have a significant amount of grammatical convergence, which can in turn serve as a base for the future development of a method for the integrated teaching and learning of these two languages.
