The pragmatic aspect of mental stage directions from the plays by T. Williams
This article is devoted to the study of mental stage directions in the plays by T. Williams in line with the pragmatic theory. The choice of object of research is caused by interest in the analysis of author's stage directions in modern linguistics. The stage directions of mental semantics are means of nonverbal communication. They explicit emotional state and implicit indirect and non-verbal expressions of thoughts, assessment. The author comes to the conclusion that the remarks facilitate the process of perception of the text and have a pragmatic information for reader. Thanks to the stage directions, the reader interprets an information and anticipates the developments of the actions.
