Self-organisation of a text structure and the potential of its usage in teaching a foreigh lagugage and intercultural communication techniques
The paper studies the structure of a text and its perception which influences the effectiveness of the completion of cloze and gap-fill exercises. The structure of a text appears as a result of its self-organization, i.e. proportional division into compositional zones and the distribution of the repeated elements which are also called the elements of symmetry. It also considers such properties as symmetry and discursiveness. The unity of these properties is the parameter that forms the structure of a text which is optimal for the perception. The main method of the research is the method of positional analysis suggested by G.G. Moskalchuk. Using the method, the author analyzes the structure of texts and compares the metro-rhythmical properties of the initial text, the text which is transformed in order to complete the gap-fill activities and the text after the gaps are filled by students. The analysis of the rhythmical structure of a text and the experiment conducted among students prove the hypothesis that the main meaning of a text is located in a rhythmically organized compositional zone. This zone is marked with linkers, reference words, time markers and the elements of symmetry which are rhythmically distributed in a text. Therefore, the compositional zone that includes the main meaning of a text has functional relevance and prognostic significance.
