Selecting communicative activities for teaching grammar at pedagogical university

The article discusses problems that arise while employing a communicative approach for teaching grammar at pedagogical university. Having regard to the urgency of communicative grammar teaching, a critical evaluation is given to activity selection and a systemic organisation of communicative grammar activities. Particular importance is attached to the communicative grammar teaching approach within teacher training education, since education professionals will be involved in the formation of both communicative and grammar competence based on appropriately selected activities. In this connection the correlation of grammar and communicative competence notions is paid attention to as well as the "weak" and "strong" versions of the communicative approach to teaching a language, and grammar in particular. In accordance with these types, advantages and disadvantages of given grammar activities and verbal contexts are analysed.
