Translator's cognitive activities: pretranslation reflection and complete understanding of the semantic content of the source text in translation
The article deals with the problem of reflection and complete understanding of the semantic content of the source text as a mandatory condition of completeness, depth and quality of any translation. It touches upon philosophical, psychological and psycholinguistic foundations of the relation between "language" - "thought" - "speech / text". The author covers the issues of the correlation relationship of language units and units / forms of thinking at the sentence and text levels, fields of nomination and predication. The article focuses on the transition from the outer structure of the topical content of the text through the language units to penetrate the deep inner structure of the original meaning of the text and identify the semantic content. The processes of sense-construction and complete understanding are demonstrated by the source texts in Russian and German languages. The article offers examples of the structures of the texts' semantic content to be translated and lists the steps of the transition from the outer text structure to the deep text structure as a program of the target text.
