Application of Translation Quality Index for translation quality increasing

Nowadays the requirements on the quality of translation services are very high. Moreover, translation is a service where the quality level has an impact on both the correct understanding of a text and, more importantly, interpersonal relationships, partnership of companies, and sometimes international relationships. Thus, the importance of the high quality of translation or interpreting is indisputable. The system of high professional education responds to the demands and tendencies of society. This way, within the framework of the discipline Professionally-oriented translation, modern education sets a target to increase the quality of knowledge and skills of graduating specialists in this sphere. However, translation quality assurance is still a topical question, because translation checks and assessments should be of an objective nature. For this purpose, a system of translation quality assurance on the TQI index was introduced. This analysis requires the high professional language level of an editor of a target text, as well as attentiveness, systemacity, and also skills in mathematical calculations. The advantage of the TQI system is the systematicity of translation assessment, objectivity and transparency of its assessment. In addition, mistakes classification facilitates the professional growth of a translator. The article deals with the notion of translation quality; an index of translation quality assessment is introduced, the examples of such an assessment are given, the importance of usage of TQI assessment systems in translation quality increasing is proved. The assessment calculation is to be done with a formula of the ratio of the amount of mistakes to the amount of words in a source text. Additionally, testing of the system in the process of teaching students and working with specialists-translators is clearly demonstrated in the practical part of the paper. Thanks to the systemacity of translation assessment of a target text and presenting the results in the mistakes table, it becomes possible to increase the quality of translation, and correspondingly the quality of a translator's work by means of a definite indication on the types and the number of mistakes as well as the degree of their criticality.
