E.G. Etkind and P. Ingold as authors-compilers of the German anthologies of Russian poetry: the experience of mapping strategies
The anthology as a form of publication is the object of many studies, and from the point of imagologies view the anthology of foreign literature is seen today only in a few works. For study the anthology of foreign poetry one of the important criteria is a research of the person of the author - compiler. The author of the anthology is regarded as a person with an individual imagologies concept and his own understanding of the place of Russian poetry in world literature. It was studied more than 40 German anthologies of the second half of the XX-XXI centuries and 2 anthologies of E. Etkind and of P. Ingold were selected as the most prominent, representative and unusual. Comparative analysis of author's strategies is carried out by the following characteristics: 1) the curriculum vitae of the authors; 2) the purpose of the anthology; 3) composition of anthological presentation; 4) basis of preparation of the anthology; 5) type of translation; 6) quantitative data of Russian poets and their works, which are presented in the anthologies. The detailed study revealed the methods and the presentation of poetic texts in these two author's editions, which are significantly different from each other, and these differences allow to understand editors strategies of Russian poetry presentation to contemporary readers. The determining factor in an individual vision of the ways this representation is a biography of the originator. E. Etkind as the representative of the sender culture is guided by the Russian academic tradition and commented also the history of literature, but the specifics of his subjective understanding of the originality of Russian poetry is reflected in his anthology, therefore, and in the transmitted image of Russian poetry as a whole. The peculiarity of the strategy of P. Ingold is expressed not on the semantic, but on the structural and compositional level that makes it understandable to the European reader. Both authors implement similar imagologies focuses, including in the anthologies some considerations about the parallels in two national poetic traditions.
