Integration of case study method in the process of foreign language teaching in the conntext of modern tendencies of educational development
In this article, some urgent trends in education, such as rapid penetration of Synergetics ideas, entailing a full-scale transition from a narrow disciplinary approach to interdisciplinary dialogue are considered. This trend to a greater extent affects directions of Technical Sciences and Social and Humanitarian Sciences, where the implementation of interdisciplinary dialogue is the most necessary in order to build a holistic picture of the world and the most complex. In the framework of this research through the prism of foreign language training of applied mechanics students some perspectives of close interaction, interdisciplinary dialogue implementation are considered, that subsequently can be extrapolated to other directions of Technical Sciences, which is the basis for further research. Knowing foreign languages is, undoubtedly, of high importance for the professional fulfillment of a specialist in applied mechanics and other Technical Sciences. However practical teaching experience shows that students have insufficient understanding of the importance of foreign language mastering, as evidenced by statistical data, obtained from the questionnaire of Faculty of Technical Physics students under course of studies 15.03.03 Applied Mechanics. Understanding the importance of the acquiring knowledge is strongly connected with motivation and, consequently the learning outcome. It is suggested that the solution to this problem lies in the competent organization of foreign language mastering process, precisely in the selection of teaching methods, that help integrate future professional development specific into the training of the students, which is very import in the context of urgent practice-oriented education. Case study method belongs to this group of methods. Application of the method helps achieve better results in students understanding the importance of foreign language mastering, which is evidenced by statistical data. Some methodological aspects of case study method application in foreign language training are also represented, as well as some mechanisms of interdisciplinary coordination and cooperation of English language teachers from the Faculty of Foreign Languages and major field of study teachers from the Faculty of Technical Physics, that not only fosters case study method integration into foreign language training, but also important s the basis for further research in this area.
