Expressing inexpressible: possibilities of synergetic efforts of linguistics and philosophy
The synergetic state of the contemporary science has a theoretical potential for a significant enrichment of philosophy of language. The communicative unity of different fields of scientific knowledge allows it to function not only in the sphere of ontological objective constructions and arrange them on the basis of reason and verbal expression, but to penetrate into such spheres of human Being which cannot be denoted rationally and are not expressed in a word. Due to such efforts, science in its cognitive possibilities achieves the truth on the “borders”, in the zones of juxtaposition of different scientific disciplines and penetrates into such spheres of reality which were earlier inaccessible to it. The problem of this paper is connected with the synergetic efforts of linguistics and philosophy to penetrate into the sphere which was earlier inaccessible either to rational thinking, or to language - into the sphere of the transcendental. The aim of this paper is to substantiate the possibilities and results of rational cognition and verbal expression of the sphere of the transcendental. The goals of the paper are: 1) to determine the ontology of transcendental reality; 2) to summarize and to reflex upon the results achieved in Russian and foreign scientific literature in the field of rational cognition and verbal expression. This paper addresses the possibilities of contemporary linguistics, which, in unity with philosophy, achieves new results of knowledge in such a sphere of reality which has always been out of reach for rational thinking. This sphere was considered as inexpressible in notions and in a word. Contemporary linguistics, taking advantage of the possibilities of philosophy, is trying to enter this sphere, and is working out a categorical apparatus which can say something about it. It has initiated the opening of a new field in the development of philosophy of language. This new field is represented by contemporary research into synergetic unity of the sphere of ontology as science about human Being and the sphere that is transcendental to it which traditionally belongs to non-Being. This presents a certain interest because it indicates a possibility of research into traditionally unknowable and inexpressible. In argumenting thus formulated problem, the paper presents theoretical facts from Russian religious philosophy. Particular attention is paid to Semyon Frank, who considered the sphere of “unknowable” as a sphere of objective reality and not as a sphere of mystics. So far as contemporary philosophy is concerned, the paper presents theoretical recommendations for cognizing “non-Being” in those teachings which are connected with the discovery of simulacra as empty (“non-Being”) signs, i.e. with the discovery of the ontology based on “non-Being”. In this connection, of interest are the ideas of Gilles Deleuze, Gilles Lipovetsky, Jean Baudrillard, Georges Bataille, Zygmunt Bauman and Manuel Castells. The research methods that have been used in this paper: 1) the method of argumenting the transcendental as objective reality constructed by humans; 2) the method of comparing the transcendental as irrational mystics and the transcendental as objective reality that has its own ontology.
