Models of description in the English phraseological units with the verbal component 'put'
The offered work is performed in line with one of the most debatable paradigms of modern linguistics, namely in line with the anthropocentric linguistics interfaced to cognitive linguistics and modeling of meaning of a phraseological unit. The novelty of the work consists in the chosen object of the research and in an integrated approach to the analysis of the problem of descriptive modeling of phraseological units. The relevance of work consists in its timeliness and in a possibility of use of its results in comparative and typological researches on structural features of phraseology and features of its modeling in different languages, both related and genetically remote, for the purpose of accumulation of scientific information with the view of compiling a typological passport of phraseology of a separate language. The scientific background of the paper are the ideas and methods of A.V. Kunin's phraseological school. The results of the structural and componential analysis reveal three most widespread structural models of description of the phraseological units with the put component functioning in modern English: 1) V + 0 + Prep + (d) + N; 2) V + (d) + N + Prep + 0; 3) V + 0's + N+ Prep + (d) + N. To the phraseological field under study we refer phraseological units which have more often full than partial reconsideration of component structure. Phraseological units of the analyzed description models are exposed to the following three types of variability: 1) lexical variability, 2) grammatical variability and 3) quantitative variability. The lexical variability of phraseological units of the studied language space is mainly shown by variation of the following components: a) in variation of the PU verbal component, b) in variation of the PU substantive component, c) in variation of the PU prepositional component and d) in variation of the PU variable component. The grammatical variability of phraseological units is shown in variation of morphological form of components. The quantitative variability is shown in expansion or narrowing of the component structure of units of the studied phraseological space. The synonymic relations are characteristic of the few phraseological units of the analyzed description model. Along with neutral phraseological units, many PUs have special stylistic coloring.
