Specific characteristics of interpreter's audition and their didactic functions in the process of teaching students consecutive interpretation
The article considers the specific characteristics of interpreter's audition in the context of consecutive interpretation. The author proves that these are attributed to the complexity and bilingualism of the consecutive interpretation speech unit. The characteristics of consecutive interpretation that have been studied by psychology and methods of interpreters training are described in the article within the framework of integrative target analysis. The research pays special attention to the detailed study and disclosure of the new qualities and specific features of listening to a sounding source text by the interpreter. It discusses the characteristics of comprehension and understanding of a sounding source text in the form of its fragments, the microtexts. According to the author, it is the structure and content of the discourse components, both linguistic and extra-linguistic, that are particularly important. Thus, the process of generalization and integration of the specific characteristics of interpreter's audition into three groups appears particularly relevant. In this respect, the interrelation of these characteristics in each group has been revealed and disclosed, taking into account the speech and activity, discursive, intellectual, verbal and cogitative, linguistic, contextual and lexicographical aspects. In conclusion, the didactic functions of the specific characteristics and their groups are described, which can serve as the basis for taking a methodical decision for developing interpreter's audition skills in the context of the bachelor's degree program in translation.
