Teaching journalism major students foreign language writing skills using corpora

Modern Standards for Higher Education in the field of training"Journalism" contains two competencies related to teaching a foreign language. OK-6 contains requirements for students to master a foreign language in the social, social and cultural spheres of communication, and OPK-18 - mastery of the language for professional communication. In this work, the authors: a) develop the content of teaching journalists-major students / writing skills, reflecting the specifics of their future professional activities; b) develop the stages of teaching journalism-students' foreign writing skills on the basis of the language corpus; c) describe the preparation and experimental training aimed at checking the effectiveness of the developed methodology; d) describe the main results of the experiment. The professional component of the content of teaching writing skills to journalism-major students includes the development of the following skills: a) information genres: chronicle of events, information correspondence, writing notes, an information report, an information interview, a report, an obituary, drawing up a blitz survey; b) analytical genres: compile an analytical report, an analytical survey, conduct analytical correspondence, prepare analytical interviews, write material in the genre of conversation, commentary, review, article, journalistic investigation, review, material in the genre of media review, forecast, analytical press release. Language corpus is a modern computer tool that allows arranging the teaching of a foreign language in the classroom and during extracurricular time. The method of teaching writing skills to journalism-major students based on corpus includes the following steps: 1) familiarization with the technical issues of working with corpus technologies; 2) discussion of issues related to ensuring information security when working on the Internet; 3) selection of the project topic; 4) familiarization with lexical units for search in the electronic case; 5) familiarization with the evaluation criteria of the written work of students; 6) search for lexical units in the electronic text corpus; 7) discussion of search results; 8) performance of written work using the studied lexical units; 9) mutual assessment by students of each other's written works; 10) students' discussion of recommendations for finalizing written work; 11) finalization of written works taking into account the recommendations of students after mutual evaluation; 12) assessment of the written work of students by the teacher; 13) reflection of students on participation in the design work. The paperspresents the results of experimental training, during which the effectiveness of the proposed method was proved.
