Composite Lexical Units in Modern Internet Business Communication: Analysis of Anglo-Russian Correspondence

The article presents the results of a comparative study of modern English and Russian composite lexical units in the Internet business communication. Main features of these units, as independent language formations, and a correlation between composite structures proper and quasicomposite ones are outlined. Special attention is paid to the peculiarities of assimilation of English borrowed composites in the Russian discourse usage - modifications of their graphic, phonetic and grammatical presentation. Also analyzed are the position of a non-assimilated component in the composite structure, the use and filling of the borrowed grammatical patterns by a well-established word-formative meaning, the acquisition of affixation and derivative forms by the borrowed units. Some data on the part-of-speech properties of the most productive groups of English and Russian composites functioning in the Internet business communication, variable features of the latter are considered and systematized. It is ascertained that despite the fact that changes taking place in the English composite units while being borrowed by the Russian discourse usage are determined by structural, semantic and lexico-grammatical features of the latter, the specific character of the composite as a distinctive lexical formation retains its typological identity in many ways. Among the dominant ones are the degree of recurrency and the character of distribution of parts of speech and their forms in composite units.
