Teaching means of expressing modality in the German language on the basis of a communicative approach in a military university (on the material of syntactic constructions)
The article discusses one of the means of expressing necessity in German, belonging to the category of "modality", namely the syntactic means of expressing the need for German: the active and passive constructions "haben + zu + Infinitiv" and "sein + zu + Infini-tiv", which future material support specialists are studying in a military college on the basis of a communicative approach. The communicative approach is considered as one of the conditions for the humanization of education at the present stage of training. Based on the research of scientists and the recommendations of the Council of Europe on the study of foreign languages, the characteristic features of the communicative approach used in teaching a foreign language at a military university are presented. Teaching the means of expression of necessity is proposed on the basis of such kind of foreign language speech activity as speaking. It is noted that the text as a communicative unit is at the heart of the development of all types of foreign language speech activity. The presented syntactic means of expressing need occupy a significant place in the formation of communicative competence of trained specialists by means of a foreign language. The choice of language means is determined by the context in which the form and content of communication is the answer to a specific situation. The situa-tional conditionality of learning to speak using the haben + zu + Infinitiv and sein + zu + In-finitiv constructions raises interest in learning a foreign language and allows maintaining the interest of future material support specialists in the chosen profession. Different situations have been proposed within the framework of the professional component of future military material support specialists. The peculiarity of the presented structures gives a place for their use throughout the entire period of learning a foreign language at a military institute. The communicative approach as the most effective for the development of speaking skills and other types of foreign language activities by means of expressing necessity makes room for further research in the areas of linguistics and improvement of the teaching methods of foreign languages at the university.
