Gastronomic Metaphor in Russian Linguocultural Discourse

The scientific framework is considered and the definition of "linguocultural discourse" is proposed which is understood as speech activity and carried out by communicants in the process of mastering and comprehension of phenomena of either their own culture or any other one. The ways of linguistic representation of the Russian food metaphor in such genre forms of linguocultural discourse like linguocultural dictionary and television travelog are characterized. The empirical material is composed of "Dictionary of Russian Food Metaphor" ("Meals and Food" 2015, "Gastronomic Activity" 2017) and three television series from the author's cycle of travel programs by V. Pozner and I. Urgant ("One-story America" 2008, "Tour de France" 2010, "Jewish happiness" 2016). The formation criteria for glossary, the macro- and microstructure of "Dictionary of Russian food metaphor" are highlighted based on which the cognitive potential of this metaphorical model is revealed, the vocabulary of its linguistic manifestation is fixed; the facts of ethnic and international components of food tradition as well as aspects of metaphorical, symbolic, allegorical rethinking of gastronomic images are demonstrated. Discursive functioning of food metaphor is considered on the material of the television travelogue texts: the reference scope of this metaphorical model, the realization of its communicative and pragmatic potential to show expressive and figurative characteristics of various socio-cultural phenomena are described, as well as their evaluation interpretation made by the percipient.
