Concept of "Migrant Parents" in the Language Consciousness of the Russian Language Carriers (on the Material of a Free Associative Experiment)
Over the centuries and even millennia there existed migration of peoples, mass movements of groups of people and language communities. 'Emigration', 'immigration' and 'migration' are concepts that represent something quite attractive for both individuals and for entire language communities. But the problems of social and linguistic isolation, and social and linguistic integration are not resolved. The problem of integration of migrants into the host society, since the issue of the formation of a tolerant attitude towards migrants are of high relevance. Migrants act as carriers of a different culture, a different language. It is not wise not to take this fact into account since the development of a language, as well as the development of culture, is carried out in the conditions of national contacts in a narrow sense, and in conditions of migration in a broad sense. In conditions of active population migration that occurs due to political, economic, environmental, and military factors, the problem of identity arises. Identity becomes the notion that contributes to a clearer definition of the national interests of the state, and helps to distinguish friends from enemies, "ours" from "not ours". Contact with other cultures on a regular basis reveals cultural differences between ourselves and "the others". When analyzing linguistic reality of a language community it is necessary to consider linguistic changes from the standpoint of the history of the language and language policy, and also to take into account linguistic contacts and processes occurring in the language. Such concepts as interaction, variation, interference, processes of language contacts and language convergence are also important. Due to migration processes linguistic communities are restructured. In the center of migration linguistics there are two social functions of language: the function of individual identification with a new language community and the emergence of a new language community, a new language group. The identity of the group is reinforced by a specific sociocultural context. Within this context an important function attributed to the language is to be a symbol of belonging to a language group and at the same time to be a symbol of difference from other groups. Thus, language acts as a symbol and means of manifestation of identity. International migration has become an integral part of the global economy. People move from the country of their place of residence to other countries with wider economic opportunities. Increased migration activity is due to humanitarian, economic, and socio-political reasons. An analysis of the actualization of the concept "Migrant Parents" in the linguistic consciousness of native speakers allows us to develop and present a model of the associative-verbal field of the concept "Migrant Parents". The relevance of the study is due to the fact that this concept actualises one of the leading agents of migration discourse. Migration discourse, in turn, is in the focus of attention of researchers engaged in the development of a new direction in linguistics - migration linguistics. The formation of migration linguistics leads to the discovery of new facets of the analysis of linguistic facts using well-known traditional approaches and methods. However, the novelty lies precisely in the fact that applying these approaches and methods we analyze new categories that are becoming relevant at the present time. One of such categories is the category of "Migrant Parents" representing social agents of migration discourse. Migration processes in the world are considered from the point of view of actualizing conflictogenicity. In the field of migration linguistics we discuss linguistic tolerance and its linguistic representation. Using the example of updated concept of "Migrant Parents" in the linguistic consciousness of native Russian speakers we present the image of a person who bears the burden of economic, political and social problems. The material obtained in the course of a free associative experiment is systematized into semantic modules representing elements of an associative-verbal field. A free associative experiment allows us to establish psychological connections between words, to determine their subjective significance for native speakers. Semantic modules are semantic fragments reflecting different sides of the studied concept. Our study combines a universal-interdisciplinary approach, since the method of a free associative experiment was chosen to study the associative-verbal field of the concept "Migrant Parents", and such special linguistic approach as study of the actual semantic content of this concept.
