Strategic competence of a professional of intercultural communication: its content, conditions for its acquisition and the mastery of its possession
The article presents the author's ideas about the strategic competence of a professionally trained specialist in intercultural communication as one of the most important components of his acquisition of Foreign Intercultural Communicative Competence (FICC). The psychological and behavioral nature of strategic competence as a complex cognitive and communicative formation is theoretically substantiated. It provides a professional in intercul-tural communication with the ability and willingness to assess the nature of intercultural dialogue adequately and quickly and it also allows to foresee options for its continuation and completion unmistakably and, relying on these options, make a decision on the optimal strategic communicative action. It has been proven that strategic competence does not consist of a set of ready-made strategies that are valid for conducting intercultural dialogue “with anyone, anytime”. It is interpreted as a process and result of cognitive-creative activity, as the ability to model and carry out effective intercultural interaction independently. The assumption is argued that individual, rather than stereotyped, strategic competence can be acquired by future professionals in intercultural communication under specially created pedagogical conditions that are valid for students' self-education for aspirations for creative professional activity, for making extraordinary decisions and making original communicative actions. The process of forming their psychological attitude towards creative communicative behavior is substantiated by the trigger mechanism for the systematic improvement of professional skills in conducting an effective intercultural dialogue of specialists in intercultural communication.
