Application of the translation quality assessment system in the training of linguist-translators
The issue of assessing the quality of translation is relevant in three areas: translation theory, professional activity and training. From the point of view of translation theory, at the moment this topic remains quite discussed, since in order to find an answer to the question posed, it is necessary to establish translation quality standards, which are also one of the discussion topics in science. Among the existing translation quality standards, the following should be highlighted: European EN 15038, US standard ASTM F2575-06 Standard Guide for Quality Assurance in Translation, ISO 12616: 2002, as well as the domestic standard -GOST 7.36-2006 “System of standards for information, librarianship and publishing... Unpublished translation. Coordination, general requirements and rules of registration”. In the listed works, clearly defined legal relations between the customer and the translator, requirements for the translator, general rules for translating were identified, however, clear criteria and norms for the process and the text of the translation were not spelled out, therefore, these standards were not taken as the basis for the development of a translation quality assessment system. for teaching linguistic students to translate from Chinese into Russian. Returning to the issue of assessing the quality of translation, you may encounter different approaches. For example, Theodore Savory presents the assessment of translation quality as a judgment based on personal feelings, impressions and subjective opinion of the reviewer. In opposition to this view, one can imagine Eugene Nida's theory of functional equivalence, according to which a good translation is an equivalent response. An almost similar idea is proposed by Christiane Nord with the skopos theory. The scientist believes that the translation of the text should meet the purpose of the original text, as a result of which four functions of the text are described: factual, referential, expressive and appellative, each of which may contain extratextual, inter-textual and linguocultural errors. In particular, it is worth noting the linguistic approach to assessing the quality of translation, which includes theories of speech acts, discourse analysis, pragmalinguistics and sociopragmatics. From the point of view of professional activity, the assessment of the quality of translation serves as a "sieve" for the selection of personnel, the assessment of the translation product, the guarantor of quality to customers. A quantitative system for assessing the quality of translation is developed for a specific genre and style of text, evaluates the translation in a point system and makes a short report on the tested product. In the process of assessing the quality according to the specified criteria, it helps to reduce the subjective view of the inspector. As for teaching, the application of the translation quality assessment system allows the teacher to clearly indicate translation errors, to track the progress of both an individual student and the whole group. However, in addition to highlighting the violation of the language and style norms of translation, the teacher, thanks to this tool, can influence the effective development of students' translation competencies, since data analysis allows you to see the nature and consistency and, in the course of the conversation, understand the nature of the mistakes made. The Spanish school of translation has achieved significant success in this area, in this study, the works of Amparo Hurtado Albir and Christopher Waddington were considered. Thus, on the basis of the material studied, a developed system for assessing the quality of translation from Chinese into Russian in the field of digital economy is proposed for linguistic students of the 4th year of the specialty "Translation and Translation Studies" in the discipline "Theory and Practice of Translation".
