Values-based attitudes as a motivation basis for the development of students' linguistic personality in the scientific and educational space of the legal discourse
The article presents the theoretical and practical results of multi-year research on the declared topic conducted by the Department of Russian, Foreign Languages and Speech Culture of the Ural State Law University. The vital linguodidactic problem of developing a professional linguistic personality of students in the space of the scientific academic legal discourse is considered in detail. The purpose of the article is to reveal and analyze the hierarchy of values and values-based attitudes that influence the progressive development of law students' linguistic personality in the scientific academic space of legal discourse. The authors explore the goals, models, principles, means and methods of professionally oriented language teaching at the university in the light of the lawyer's linguistic personality structure, which allow to effectively and fully participate in professional and public life. It is shown that the values and value orientations that guide students in their educational activities are subsequently reflected in their professional life, contributing to or hindering the full personal selfrealization of spiritual, moral and intellectual potential. The value choice largely determines the finding of oneself in the profession and life in general, when a person becomes the author of his own destiny. In the current crisis situation (economic recession, pandemic, spiritual and moral degradation), it is extremely important to assess and reassess values and to prioritize reasonably: health, love, freedom, family, career, education, money, creativity. The methodological basis of the research is the synergetic and cognitive discourse approaches. Within the framework of this study, discourse is understood as a text viewed through the lens of extra-linguistic, pragmatic, sociocultural, psycholinguistic factors for foreign language communication. The conclusions and results of the theoretical research underlie the development of a series of high-quality modern ESP textbooks for all levels of higher legal education. In particular, our new textbook for graduate and postgraduate students is based on the Content and Language Integrated Learning approach in teaching English-speaking professional discourse to law students in higher school.
