120^th anniversary of legal science and education in Siberia: traditions and innovations (review of materials of a practical science conference)

On the 25^th -26^th of October, 2018 the Institute of Law hosted the all-Russian practical -science conference "Legal science and education in Siberia: traditions and innovations " dedicated to the 120 anniversary of the legal education in Siberia. The conference was attended by leading scientists in the field of law, officers of law enforcement agencies, employees of judicial system of the Russian Federation, members of the public interested in the problems of legal science and education. The article analyses the materials of the practical- science conference on history of the formation and development of the Law faculty (institute) at Tomsk State University, and its scientific schools, in particular, the Tomsk scientific School of constitutional law. The main results of the activities of the Institute of Law of TSU are given. Attention is drawn to the traditions of scientific and educational activities of the Institute of Law of Tomsk State University: Tomsk Law school has its own research program is characterized by the experience encouraging future scientists to reflect on value-semantic grounds of their own research; the formation of ethical norms and rules applied in doing research that are useful for young scientists. The problems formulated by Prof. V.A. Utkin concerning those inherent in Russian higher vocational education in general and higher legal education in particular, and the basic directions of further successful development of the Institute of Law as a structural unit of National research Tomsk State University are under analysis. The formulated questions became the subject of discussion at the four round tables in the Institute of Law: " Russian Constitution and strengthening of the Russian statehood"; "Administrative reform as a way for changes in a society" ; "Methodology, problems and prospects of teaching private-law disciplines; "The judicial system in Russia: status and ways for reforming". The author determines the importance of the above practical -science conference for theoretical comprehension of legal problems as well as for improving the content and technologies of legal education; improvement of the system of interaction with government bodies, local government bodies and public organizations in the region; preservation and development of traditions and values of the university, corporate culture, creativity of the institute graduates; increasing international activity of the institute, increasing academic mobility; development of applied research and introducing them to the legislative and law enforcement practices.
