The School Dictionary of Amur Dialects: general conception, structure and content

As a result of great attention to different aspects of local study work, the article proves the necessity of compiling school regional dictionaries, such as The School Dictionary of Amur Dialects. This dictionary is intended for secondary school students and the Russian language and literature teachers. Appealing to the source of our native speech is especially urgent today because of a great number of foreign words, jargons and rude common language on TV, radio and in newspapers. So, linguistic and local history study is of great importance. Acquaintance with dialects and true folk speech helps secondary school students to form a concerned attitude to the native language and cultivates national self-consciousness and love to the "small" homeland. The regional dictionary can become the richest and the most available source of these data. The dictionary contains the facts of economic and cultural life of the local population in the past and in the present, also it includes the names of objects, notions and processes of common and mental life, so it has a great cognitive significance. The dictionary deals with the inner life of a person, nature of personal relationship, features of behavior and its assessment by people, which is important for upbringing of moral qualities of a younger generation. The regional dictionary is a means of aesthetic education. The conception of the regional dialect dictionary puts an emphasis on the following: 1) the dictionary must be educational (informative but not overladen by the material), it must be available for perception; 2) the dictionary must show the necessity of local lore investigations; 3) the folk language picture of the world must be presented in the dictionary, it must reflect the thinking of people who live on the remote territory of Russia, the dictionary must contain topical variety of dialects and their value - the exactness of nomination, detailed elaboration of objects according to their significance, bright word motivation, figurativeness, expressive characteristics, the most typical system relations, interaction of dialects and general Russian words, connection with extralinguistic reality reflected in ethnographic vocabulary. The School Dictionary of Amur Dialects is of differential type, it includes 1500 dictionary entries in the alphabetical order. It deals with words and phraseological combinations which reflect different sides of Amur people's life and represent different topical groups: common and trade vocabulary, vocabulary which describes the Amur nature and climate, which is connected with man, etc. The main parts of The School Dictionary of Amur Dialects are an introduction, dictionary entries (some of them include illustrations), methodological supplement. The introduction deals with the content and the dictionary entry structure which consists of 1) a title word with grammar and stylistic marks if necessary, 2) interpretation and meaning, 3) illustrative material, 4) geographic marks. The methodological supplement helps to organize linguistic and local history study. It contains advice for students and teachers, some plans and materials for study groups and helps to use dictionary materials at the Russian language lessons and in extracurricular activities.
