A multilingual motivological comparative dictionary as a source of word motivation study
The article examines the informative potential of a motivological comparative dictionary of Russian, English and Czech as a new type of dictionary. The article presents the lexicographic experience of word motivation interpretation in a comparative aspect with use of thematic word groups of plants in the Russian, English and Czech languages. The models of the dictionary entry of a motivological comparative dictionary of the three languages are considered from the standpoint of their information and source value. The structure of the entry includes four zones. The first zone is representative and consists of the Latin name of a plant with its translation, the plant name and its lexical meaning. It is necessary for name nomenclature and its denotation attribution. The zone of metalanguage consciousness data includes the results of a psychological linguistic experiment represented in metatexts and information about motivation / non-motivation of a lexical unit. Metatexts inform about the motivational form of a word and interpret its motivational meaning. The data of this zone are a source of information about the part of motivated, semi-motivated and non-motivated plant names in the three languages and about the types of their correlation. Information about the motivational form of a word and its motivational meaning represented in the interpretive zone of the entry allows determining the features of the inner form of the word, its components, types of motivation. The interpretative zone also informs about the correlation of motivated and nominated features, word motivation influence on different word components in the Russian, English and Czech languages. The referential zone consists of dictionary information and data from botany literature in Russian, English and Czech (phytonimic reference) and word's etymology (etymological reference). The lexicographic data allows clarifying questions about demotivation and remotivation of the word's inner form and precising the exact wording of the motivating feature and its matching or non-matching with the nominating feature. A multilingual motivological comparative dictionary as a dictionary of new type is a source of motivation study in compared languages and allows determining the common and peculiar features in the lexical systems of the three languages.
