Artistic Concepts in the Format of a Poetic Dictionary
The aim of the article is to characterize the lexicographic method of representing artistic concepts. In the study, an artistic concept is a mental unit of an author's consciousness, which embodies his individual notions about objects of the poetic world. The article is based on the material of the Dictionary of the Keywords of Georgiy Ivanov's Poetry compiled by the author of this article. The purpose of the dictionary is to provide those who study the poetry of this famous Russian poet with the means for the comprehension of the author's individual artistic concepts, and the way these means are presented - in a form of a dictionary entry structure - helps to interpret the conceptual content of the poetry. The structure of the dictionary entry can be represented as a sum of several zones: clustering zone, referring to the derivational parameter, explicative zone, referring to the semantic parameter, and thesaurus zone, showing syntagmatic and paradigmatic relations of the key unit. The zone structure of the dictionary entry allows explicating different layers of a concept and showing its main properties. The concept includes a figurative layer containing images of objects (mental pictures) as well as some other layers or components, such as: (1) conceptual, which fixes the logical interpretation of the poetic reality; (2) figurative-associative, which reflects the connection between objects in the poetic world of the author's consciousness; (3) symbolic, which sets relations between concepts of abstract and concrete nominations; (4) evaluative, which gives a valuation of a depicted phenomenon and shows the connection with basic categories of the author's attitude to the world and national values. Depending on which component predominates inside a concept, the author of the article differentiates concepts with a logical core (such as ''life''), concepts with a figurative core (e.g., ''sunset''), spatial concepts (e.g., ''flight'') and emotional concepts (e.g., ''happiness''). The main means of representing individual author's concepts in Ivanov's texts are keywords. A keyword is considered to be more than a word. It is a ''bridge'' to the mental space of the writer's language personality. Keywords indicate the most important categories of his worldviews. Therefore, representing keywords through dictionary gives the reader the most adequate notions of the author's conceptual system. Even playing an important role as the main representative of the author's concept, a keyword is not the only way to express the variety of the conceptual content. The most adequate exponent of mental phenomena is a complex linguistic unit - an associative-semantic field of a keyword. The field would include not only the words, which are connected with each other through semantic, linguistic relations, but also through weaker associative ones. The author supposes that the combination of these lexicographic parameters describing a keyword - semantic, derivational, thesaurus - allows one to reconstruct the associative-semantic field of the artistic concept. Artistic concepts possess a substantial degree of individuality, specific and sometimes unique nature. That is why lexical representation of such individual artistic concepts gives an opportunity of the deep understanding of a writer's inward creative world.
