Databases in linguistic research
Modern linguistics aims its research at solving applied problems. Promising in this aspect is database technologies. The purpose of this work is to undertake a review of research in the field of linguistic databases, and to provide an option of structuring the lexical-semantic field of "sounding" and the parameterization of the semantics of lexical units that form this area. At present, the computer representation of information in the form of databases is used in various fields of linguistics and applied linguistics, including lexicography when creating traditional and electronic dictionaries. This paper presents a database project that allows to structurally present the conceptual sphere "sounding." When analyzing words with the semantics of sound it is necessary, first, to establish the limits of the lexical-semantic field, and, second, to investigate its structure in terms of the possibility of its submitting to the database. To get the most complete picture of the material it is necessary to include the projected resource of a wide range of units, but in view of their non-equivalent positions. The core of the database, as well as the core of the lexical-semantic field, is verbs. The next step in creating a database is to parameterize the semantics of separate language units to present them as tables. The description of the semantic information needs additional structuring. Fixing the transferred lexico-semantic variants is possible due to the introduction of key identifiers in the numerical form, which will allow representing the variants as separate entries in the table, but the same form of words, as well as an indication of the type of the meaning, will establish their identity. Multimedia technology allows to supplement linguistic data with information of other kinds - to include the units nominating different types of sounding, audio or video records that capture the type of sounding, the subject and the action. The creation of such resources will allow to effectively and quickly obtain information about the composition of lexical units forming a certain semantic sphere, the structure of the meaning, metaphoric and metonymic models operating in the sphere. Such a database could be used in the educational process as a lexicographical source in teaching courses of Lexicography, Lexicology, Linguistic Culturology, Language Picture of the World, Russian as a Foreign Language, etc.
