User's needs'' as a requirement to compiling the English-Russian Combinatory Dictionary for Learners

In the paper "user's needs" are considered separately to each component of the English-Russian Combinatory Learner's Dictionary of an active type: firstly, to the bilingual dictionary, secondly, to the combinatory dictionary, and, thirdly, to the bilingual combinatory dictionary for the learner. The entries are worked out according to the requirements for compiling a dictionary of this type. In the recent decades the dictionary branch often employs the term "user's needs". ''User's needs'' is the information about a language unit (linguistic and extra-linguistic), which the user of the reference book must learn. They are a means of compiling any dictionary and their implementation is the primary task of the lexicographer. From numerous user's needs of particular relevance are those possessing a certain methodological value. At the same time a set of user's needs is a tool of a learner's dictionary defining its composition, the choice of interpretation of language units, guidelines for working with the dictionary, and its use in the educational process. In this regard for compiling the English-Russian combinatory learner's dictionary it is necessary for the lexicographer to find out the user's needs in this dictionary as a semi-bilingual dictionary; a learner's combinatory dictionary; and a semi-bilingual learner's combinatory dictionary. In the offered English-Russian combinatory learner's dictionary there is an attempt of scientifically reasonable description of English and Russian collocations according to the modern collocation doctrine, the educational lexicography concept, and the methodological demand of the choice of the dictionary's megastructure (composition), macrostructure (list of words), and microstructure (entry). Thus, user's needs define the content of any learner's dictionary in general and semi-bilingual combinatory learner's dictionary in particular. The needs of users stated in this paper serve as the instructions to the lexicographer for a reasonable description of collocations in the semi-bilingual combinatory learner's dictionary, to which an adequate lexicographical reaction has to be presented. The account of all "user's needs" for this type of the dictionary has allowed us to work out an original model of the English-Russian combinatory learner's dictionary of an active type.
