From the editor.pdf How dreamed that this issue will not have the section "Vita brevis, Ars longa", it seems that it did not exist. The materials of the issue were collected and a technical check was carried out before being sent to the publishing house, and then the news came: on June 2, just yesterday, Konstantin Mikhailovich Lakin, the oldest composer of the city of Tomsk, died... Death does not meet deadlines and is not interested in human affairs... This is how this section appeared in the issue - unwanted, but already, apparently, constant... Except for the emergency message and personal memories of the editor-in-chief, there is nothing in this section now and cannot be: memories have not yet appeared, parting words have not formed ... this one lived for the sake of Art until the last minutes, a lot more will be said and written about him, many more of his works will be played. The first section of the issue ("Vita brevis, Ars longa") contains an emergency message, the following chapters deal with that eternal Art that is greater than life - the Art of Music. The section "Reasonable, kind, eternal", as is traditionally in our magazine, contains recommendations for the education and training of the younger generation (article by E. Malinovskaya). In the section "Works and Characters" we see a detailed analysis of several works: L. Desyatnikov's opera "Poor Liza" (article by E. Bogatyreva and D. Aksinenko), the novel The Golden Calf (article by S. Vavilov), N. Rimsky-Korsakov's opera The Snow Maiden (article by E. Stepanova and N. Miroshnikov). The section "Verbum de Musica" is represented by an article by V. Svarovskaya about the semantic constants of the "Well-Tempered Clavier". The chapter “Concert Life of the City” contains information about the opening of a branch of the Union of Composers of Russia in Barnaul and about the ancient musical dynasty of Tomsk, in which names and surnames change, but the main thing - service to Music - does not change. So, dear reader, good journey through the pages of the "Musical Almanac"!
