From the editor.pdf This release of our journal turned out to be sad. The first chapter, Vita brevis, Ars longa, occupied a large place in it. It is dedicated to the memory of two significant and famous people-Vitaly Maksimov and Vitaly Sotnikov. Both of them have done a lot for the culture of Tomsk - and our entire country; both of them left our world in November of this year. With their leaving, it seems, an entire era has ended - but this is better said by those who will devote their research to the history of Russian culture much later. It is not given to everyone to stay in the history of culture; but now it has happened too recently, many remember them alive and the pain of loss has not yet subsided. But the activity of their lives is immortal, and this is clearly demonstrated by the further pages of the Almanac. Directly about them tells the chapter "Roads of arts". Here we are talking about the meeting of V. Maksimov with E. Denisov (article by S. Vavilov); about V. Sotnikov as a Person (article by D. Drobyshevsky) and the Master (article by S. Vavilov and Ya. Tkalenko). The chapter "Artistic works and Characters" (article by Veronika Krivopalova and Olga Kharlamova and article by Olga Mazepina) is devoted to the works of our fellow composers Edison Denisov and Konstantin Lakin. In the chapter "Mastery Technology" we see three articles: an article by Kaia Saariaho translated by Galina Schaplok, an article by Ekaterina Prikhodovskaya and Nikita Miroshni-kov, and an article by Sofia Fedotova. The first two articles are devoted to the technologies of composing skills, the third-to the problems of singing skills. The questions discussed here speak eloquently and indisputably about the greatness and immortality of the power to which people devote their earthly roads - the power of Art and Creativity. So, dear reader, have a good journey through the pages of the «Musical Almanac»!
