Text building function of authorization

The paper describesthe realization of authorization sets in scientific discourse of the modern Russian language and theirrole in building scientific texts. The subject of research is patterns of authorization development in ascientific article. The paper reveals a text building function of authorization which is realized throughinteraction of authorizaqtion structures with each other and with the authorised text. The ways of themodal (modus) meaning of authorization structures outreach from the level of utterance to the level oftext and expansion of their active range by means of setting up communicative and functional interactionof autorisation structures. The active range of authorisation is the spreading space of the authorisationmeaning of an authorisation structure. For the first time the term authirisation frame is introduced,which is formed by framing a part of the text by authorisation structures. It reflects the evolution of thecognitive process and adds some completeness to the strategy of a scientific work. The difference fromauthorisation key and epistemic marker is pinpointed. Thematic macrostructures confined into theauthorisation frames retain their integrity due to interaction with authorisation structures. The paperdemonstrates how communicatinve and functional authorisation meanings interact, an example ofwhich is defined as series pattern of authorisation structures, and how epistemic nature of a scientificwork builds up through a combination of authorisation structures and the nature of the authorised textthroughout the whole of the text. A comparison of functional properties of authorisation in the text ofbélles-léttres work and scientific discourse is made. A more compressed character of authorisationexpression is revealed in the latter. Being a modus categiry realized in the text, authorisation can haveboth delimiting and adhesive capacities as well as create a special structural and meaning text organisation,have some pragmatic impact, and control the readers attention. Text building function of authorisationis in dialectical unity of its delimiting and adhesive capacities, commuticative and interactionof authorisation structures with each other and the content of a scientific text.
