Conflict in linguistic consciousness of Russian language speakers (by association experiment)

The paper presents the results of the study of the associative potential of the conflict name with the application of association experiment technique. On the basis of associations thematic ordering, their quantitative analysis revealed how the conflict situation is presented in the linguistic consciousness of Russian language speakers: its structure, types, introduction of mental and social contexts, assessment system. In the studied focus group the nuclear are associations of the word ''conflict'' with the names of verbal types of conflicts and mental and psychological states of the subject, as evidenced by the number of all the reactions of the group, and, what is more important, by their first reactions. The dominant association is ''conflict - quarrel.'' The total of associations of the group enters the conflict in the stratified hierarchy of concepts: the situation, relationship between people - the conflict - quarrel, fight, etc. Likewise, each of the components of the situation is represented by associations that either make the conflict a kind of a dynamic situation, relationship, or represent the structural characteristics of specific types of conflict, for example, feelings and anger, the two parties and the enemy. In the language consciousness the word ''conflict'' is associated with the situation of a dynamic type, based on a conflict of interested parties. Conflict is an internally structured activity, a system with set components and relations between them. Conflict is a type of strategic action represented in a set of tactics; it is a complex social action consisting of smaller events. Social context, social environment is an essential component of perception of a conflict, it forms the reasons for the conflict, its purpose and results. In the structure of conflict the most important is the relationship of the internal (mental, psychological) and the external (events and objects). The internal plan for the conflict situation is mental and psychological state of the subject of the situation, motives, goals of the conflict, its results (to some extent). The external conflict is manifested in the actions of the subjects of the conflict situation in the social environment. The external and internal structures have a three-member structure: causes - development of the conflict - end (resolution). The mental and psychological state of the subject changes with the development of the external plan of the conflict. In the dynamic aspect the reactions of the subjects were grouped into three phases of dynamic changes in the cognitive structure of the subject of the situation: the state of the subject as one of the causes of the conflict; the state in the process of conflict development; the state at the completion of the conflict situation. Conflict as a type of social relations is in the area of assessment. The system of axiologically oriented associations opposes two types: assessment of the situation with respect to the norm of the conflict; assessment of the situation by the norms of the society. There was ethical and utilitarian assessment.
