The "material" world of a traditional Siberian wedding in the linguoculturological aspect: from the common to the existential (by the source material of Middle-Ob dialects)

In this paper the features of the linguoculturological reviewing when analyzing lexical units that objectify a cultural constant are examined. The potential of such a reviewing as a method of describing the words is shown. In the center of attention of this paper are nomination lexemes of the object world of the traditional culture, which are included in the Siberian wedding vocabulary. The research was based on the resources of card indexes and text archives of the Laboratory of General and Siberian Lexicography, Faculty of Philology, Tomsk State University, and published dialect dictionaries of the Tomsk Dialectological School. The analyzed units are related to the so-called "material" group of dialect vocabulary. It is shown how a word with the original common semantics is sacralized through the rite discourse acquiring an existential meaning. The linguoculturological review is represented as a complete description of a word that is a certain result of verbalization of cultural constants. The sacral component of the meaning of the dialect vocabulary unit semantics has been singled out. The "material" world of a traditional peasant wedding is a certain model obtaining the features of an imagined ideal structure of the world via objects that can be defined as cultural constants. During the cultural ethnogeny intergenerational collective ideas are assigned to a materialized constant. Thus, the lexical unit that names the object is in some way a representation and a mediator for mental constructs for it bears some broad historical experience. The wedding rite system is aimed at constructing the ideal life of a new unit of the society if to follow the exact order of rite stages and manipulate definite objects during the rite. Practical existence may get to the sacral level in different ways, but the most obvious one is the exact reproduction of the object's image: form, size, color, etc. The peculiarity of lexical units that verbalize mental constructs is in the unity of the cultural and the common, of the lay and the sacral. The task of the linguoculturological analysis is in defining the set of connotative components of word meaning that speak of this word as of a cultural sign, and its presence allows revealing the procedure of making the word sacral. In this paper the experience of developing the linguoculturological review of the lexeme "gown" nominating the major attribute of the bride's wedding attire is shown. The peasant's world view accentuates the following features of its morphology, the combination of which provides the order of its sacralization: a) color; b) right parameters of the item (width, length, style); c) fabrics it is made from; d) in some rare cases the manufacturing technology is actualized.
