«But sometimes he opened his eyes …» February and October in EdwardBagritsky's poetry
The article deals with the reception of February andOctober revolutions by E. Bagritsky's poetry considered. «October» is included in a chain of permanentrevolutionary fights and comprehended through analogies (the nearest predecessor - the FrenchCommune). Painted romantically revolutionary activity is realized as theatrical action, but the storytellerof Bagritsky, inclined to role games, self-projections (the Fowler, the smuggler) and stylizationsin these verses looks as if does not find a role approaching for. The theme of «February» arises in theearly twenties (unfinished poem «Osvobogdenie») in melodramatic opposition of two revolutionsleaders. Then there appears a look round, an image of «two ways», a returning to a history divergence, motivation of a choice.Paired relationship of leaders is accompanied already noted paired relationship of characters andcorresponding phonetic and lexical game («rg» and «blood»). All oppositions are harmonized by deathon which bones «the new youth» can grow.In the poem «February» (in a draught copy the heading is absent) is told the history of youthfullove. The subject of passion has no face, it is replaced with the «uniform gown» embodying everythingabout what «the small Judaic boy» «read at the nights». Aspiration of the hero is interfaced to ideas ofthe French revolution with the prevalence of the equality. Its realization is interfered by a symbol of the old world - the policeman («gorodovoy»). Revolution leads not to equality, but to changing ofsocial roles, overturning of top and a bottom. The hero, becoming «the assistant to the commissioner»,takes a place of the policeman and revenges for his former shyness. The literary biography of Bagritsky is built traditionally enough, on the one hand, by analogy with «mobilized and called by revolution» V. Majakovsky, the romanticist, who is up in arms against routine modeof life, on the other, considering the Jewish aspect, - with I. Babel. The doubt in rightness of the made choiceleads to an inside duality, loss of the feeling of wholeness: «I am not that I am»
