Essays on Patriotic War of 1812 in V.A. Zhukovskys library
As it has been shown by the Tomsk researchers of V.A.Zhukovsky's writings, it is not separable from the materials of his library that enhance ourunderstanding of the poet's outlook evolution and his aesthetic development. In particular, his workson the Patriotic War of 1812 included in Zhukovsky's book collection are of great interest. Theywitness of his deep and long attention to this historical event, the reception of which was determinednot only by its critical significance for Russia and Europe and the poet's immediate participation in it,but also by creative research of the first Russian romanticist, development of his historical philosophyas well as his awareness of historical problems in literature. There were two peaks of the Russian and European society interest in the Patriotic War in the firsthalf of the 19th century, which is reflected in Zhukovsky's library. It includes books published duringthe first after-war period as well as in the 1830s-1840s. Having considered their reception in thecontext of Zhukovsky's outlook and artistic development of the 1810s and 1830s-1840s it is possibleto conclude that the problem of history in his artistic perception was of great importance for the poetromanticistin understanding of the Russian-European history and its image in literature. All writings about the Patriotic War in Zhukovsky's personal library (The Panegyric for the All-Merciful Sovereign Emperor Alexander I, the August Saver and Peacemaker of Europe by А.F.Merzlyakov, Notes on 1812 by S.N.
