Specific character of localization / non-localization in Russian statementswith semantics of behaviour
This article gives characteristics for thestatements with behaviour semantics in the aspect of temporal localization (specific and definiteposition of action/situation on the time base) and non-localization (non-specific and indefinite positionof action/situation on the time base, abstracting from the concrete space of time). These characteristicsare based on the theory of categorical situations elaborated by A.V. Bondarko and his research school. The author states that the realization of temporal localization / non-localization, which implies theinteraction between the system of language elements and the environment, between linguistic meaningand the actual meaning of the statement, between lexical and grammar constituents, can be caused bythe specifics of behaviour semantics, the ways of explication of this nomination type and theinteraction of different referential aspects of the statement. The specifics of behaviour semantics is in its ''double-layer'' nature: a series of actions/states ofone Subject is generalized and assessed by another Subject. This makes possible the combination ofsuch features as observability and logical inference, the static character of the situation and the activityof the Subject. The author reviewed different means of expressing the behaviour semantics: by specializedpredicates of discrete and non-discrete types, as well as by the combination of different types, statements presenting the entire semantic structure of behaviour and constructions depicting thecompression of the situation observed. It was reasonably shown that temporal localization cannot be apparent in all types of behaviourstatements. At this point the conditions of expressing the wide range of temporal localization sub-types(pure repetitive, usual or typical character) can be revealed for statements different in the means ofbehaviour realization. The author notices that precise qualification of a sub-type is not always possible:in some constructions the characterization of the situation in the aspect of localization / nonlocalizationis not feasible such. The author argues that in most cases the characterization of the statement in the aspect oflocalization / non-localization is oriented to the primary semantic layer presenting concrete actions /states that are followed by generalization and further assessment. The conditions are also described that can occur for the combination of markers of observabilityand logical inference and their correlations with the sub-types of of temporal localization in behaviourstatements. All this variety of characteristics in relation to temporal localization / non-localization enables abetter understanding of the processes of semantic formation in a statement, as well as developing theexisting description of referential features of language units and their interaction.
