The writer Andrey Platonov's and his contemporaries' biographies are described in the context of the literary life of Moscow in the 1920s-1940s. It is revealed why Platonov took a special place among “professional writers”. The book is intended for researchers, teachers of Russian literature and a wide audience. Memories, letters, diaries, notebooks, documents, as well as archive sources from the Russian State Archive of Literature and Art, the A.M. Gorky Archive and the Manuscript Division of the Institute of World Literature of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Manuscript Division of the State Literary Museum, the Russian State Archive of Socio-Political History, the Russian State Archive of the Economy, have been used in this work.
