Ontology of the fairy tale: Transgression in research by Vladimir Propp
The article analyzes the fairy tale ontology. The starting point of the study is the thesis that a fairy tale, like myth and religion, contains a characteristic ontological model of the universe. The content of the fairy tale is not limited to reflecting the historical conditions of human existence, to the manifestation of the archetypes of the collective psyche, but implicitly represents a well-defined ontology that can be expanded into a philosophical concept of the existence of the world. The objective of the work is the explication of the ontological motifs of the fairy tale. The study is carried out on the basis of the works of Vladimir Propp. The aim of the study is to substantiate the thesis that the main ontological motif of the fairy tale is transgression. The article shows that the phenomenon of transgression in the fairy tale is revealed in connection with the functions of prohibition and violation. The thesis is substantiated that the main content of a fairy tale is the transgressive transition of the hero across the border separating the realm of the dead from the realm of the living. The prohibition that the hero of the fairy tale violates can receive the most diverse expressions and motivations, but, in the final analysis, it goes back to one fundamental foundation: the prohibition on transgressing the border separating the realm of the dead from the realm of the living. As a result of the study, it is concluded that the fairy tale is a transgressive genre. A fairy tale is not a rite or a myth. However, it contains the remnants of ancient rituals and mythical representations. A fairy tale cannot be reduced to ritual and myth, nor can it be completely isolated from them. A fairy tale is not a religion. However, the fairy tale is a link in the formation of religious ideas. Finally, a fairy tale is not yet fiction. However, it is in the fairy tale that the beginnings of future poems and novels are contained. In the space of the fairy tale, all these different elements are layered on top of each other and penetrate each other, forming a complex transgressive unity. The author declares no conflicts of interests.
