Design of media-event: specificity of social chronotope
Modern journalism faces the problem of self-determination and the need to clarify its ontological status. This article explores the social component of journalism in the spatial-temporal aspect of its activities, discusses the recursive mechanism of media-event design through basic algorithms of consciousness, defines ways of filling the journalistic material with social meaning. The progress of technology has changed the ways of information transfer and the amount of information flow. Methods of instantaneous transmission of information triggered the acceleration of social time and the transformation of spatial characteristics. Journalism has a significant influence on the formation of ideas about time and space, it manifests itself in the key property - sociality. Any event reflected by the media becomes a media-event. A journalist can actualize the potential meaning of a media-event by constructing an individual chronotope, which reflects the author's ideas about time and space. Spatial and temporal characteristics of the media-event are the result of arbitrary manipulation of the journalist interpreting the reality. The interpretation algorithm may be an image that reflects the essence of the event. The practical part of the paper is devoted to studying the process of designing a media-event on the example of coverage in the media of the tragic collapse of the ship "Bulgars". In the analysis of materials about the ship the basic image-algorithm was found that fixes the topology of the event. Operating a set of common concepts (tragedy, cause, fault, rescue, death), journalists recreated the event with the same language means. It provoked recursive reproduction of a large number of materials and a huge rate of their occurrence. Because all materials about the tragedy used the same markers of space and a certain set of common concepts, journalistic interpretation was the manipulation of temporal parameters. Speeding up or slowing down the time, journalists have constructed an individual author's chronotope. Author's understanding and interpretation can fill the material with social meaning. Correlation of the event with social problems and processes happens through the use of socio-cultural mental facts: stereotypes and precedent phenomena. Thus the author's chronotope finds sociality. Recursive transformation of information through basic algorithms makes the information flow so intense that the system of mass media is in chaos. The opinion of the journalist intensified by technologically-advanced information transmission channels can broadcast sociality and become an order parameter that affects not only the media, but also the whole social system.
