Symmetric and Non-symmetric mode selection in slow-wave structures of multiwave cherenkov generator
In the paper, we theoretically considered the resonances of the slow-wave structures of the multiwave Cherenkov generator in the frequency range close to the π-type frequency of the lower symmetric mode. We investigated SWSs which has the ratio of the diameter of the structure to the wavelength of microwave radiation equal to 4. The dependences of the resonance frequencies and Q-factors of symmetric and non-symmetric modes on the length of the drift tube are determined. It is shown that, due to the difference in these dependences, the spectral composition of the resonances varies greatly. High Q-factor resonances of higher types of oscillations arise (locked modes) at some values of the ratio of the SWS diameter to the wavelength. Examples of the SWS geometry, in which the resonances of different modes have the advantage in terms of the Q-factor are given.
