The modulation method for determining the bearing of a movable object with use of orthogonal polarized signals of the radio beacon circular polarized
On the basis of the use of vector apparatus and Jones matrices polarization-modulation method for determining the bearing of a moving object by orthogonally polarizing the left and right circle of the beacon signals is studied. The proposed method is based on the use of a polarization modulator in the form of a rotating quarter-wave phase plate and a mobile object installed in the receiving path of the onboard antenna. The bearing is evaluated at the receiver output by the phase of the fourth harmonic of the polarization modulation frequency.
