Optical properties and terahertz wave generation in Li2B4O7 crytal

For the first time spectral dependances of the refractive index and absorption coefficient components of the nonlinear crystal Li2B4O7 (LB4) in the THz range are determined. The measurements are carried out within spectral range 0.15- 1.6 THz (180-2000 mm). Results of the measurements of the refractive index components are approximated in the form of Sellmeier dispersion equations. With it use the types of possible interactions are determined and phase matching angles are determined for THz wave generation by difference frequency generation of Nd:YAG laser and close in wavelength frequency tunable laser source. Efficiency of the process is estimated.
