FATGRAFTING OF THE CALF AS AN ALTERNATIVE METHOD OF CALFAUGMENTATION

The authors describe an alternative method of calf augmentation which is fat grafting to the lower limbs. The objective of the present work was to determine the potential of the method in calf augmentation. The authors present an experience of operations in 24 patients at the age between 18 and 49 years (middle age was 26 years). Evaluation results of the operation was carried out by measuring the circumference of the middle and upper third of the lower limb and the imaging technique with photographic evidence. A positive result was in 18 cases which amounted 75 %. Based on these results it was concluded that the method of fat grafting may be the method of choice for calf augmentation, but in some cases for achieving a good aesthetic result required re-surgery.
