MINIMALLY INVASIVE PLATE OSTEOSYNTHESIS OF DISTAL RADIUS FRACTURES: INDICATIONS FOR USE AND FEATURES OF THE METHOD

The first experience of using volar minimal access for osteosynthesis of fractures of distal epiphysial cartilage of radial bone is reported. Nineteen patients (7 men and 12 women) after this surgery were observed. Particular attention is paid to the surgery technique and determination of surgical indications. In all the cases, excellent anatomic and functional results are obtained. Main advantages of the described technique are minimal invasion, stable fixation of fragments, early recovery of the function of radiocarpal joint and hand, and good cosmetic effect.
